Job summary
· The Marketing Department is responsible for planning, organising, monitoring and controlling all marketing activities, including activations, events, films, photography, content, campaigns, promotions, materials & collaterals, website and digital marketing, experiential marketing, branding; in accordance with the SC’s strategic programme direction.
· The Marketing Department is responsible for leading a number of Host Country Projects that contribute to the Host Country Experience and Operations during the World Cup. The Departments is responsible for the planning and delivery of these Projects, connecting the Experience with the Operations. Working closely with all Host Country projects on identified interdependencies and with all relevant external stakeholders, the Department is a key contributor to the HC and the Event vision of a successful delivery of a historic FIFA World Cup in alignment with national plans and with a lasting impact on the country and the world.
· The Marketing Department is responsible for leading a similar set of Projects directly with FIFA and on behalf of the Q22 organisation. This is to ensure full and direct coordination and integration on the planning efforts, optimise efficiency and achieve economies of scale.
· Support the Fan Activations Senior Manager with the development of the Host Country and Qatar 2022 strategy for FIFA Fan Fests, in alignment with the overarching goals, the Event Foundation plan, the respective Project Charters, with particular attention to the Events strategy.
Key responsibilities
Manage Fan Fests teams to successfully deliver requirements.
Manage the detailed planning of the project, developing key planning documents including project charter, terms of reference, project delivery structure, concept of operations, roadmap, critical pathway, scope, cost-analysis/budget, key technical/infrastructure framework, and key operational framework.
Project manage every aspect and all phases of the project’s delivery, ensuring all deliverables and requirements are documented and achieved.
Manage the integration of internal and external stakeholders into every aspect of the project, building and maintaining robust relationships and identifying interdependencies.
Manage the development and approval processes of the creative concepts
Participate and lead the project’s stakeholder working groups.
Negotiate with FIFA the guidelines of the activations and ensure delivery of all rights as per contractual obligations
Manage the tender process for the appointment of EMCs
Closely manage the deliverables of the EMCs and suppliers on a day-to-day basis
Oversee the processes of securing locations (rent, commercially clean, safe/secure, parking, permits, insurances) and main utilities access (such as water, electricity, telecommunications)
Work with Host Country Marketing functions (Commercial, Hospitality, Marketing Rights delivery, Ticketing, Q22 Experience) on the concept and delivery of strategies required.
Ensure suitable and timely operational planning
Manage reporting and visibility on project status; leads management reviews and project meetings; develops and manages agendas, minutes and follow up with action items
Manage technical challenges
Identify and communicate risk and create actionable risk mitigation plans
Primary point of contact for the FFF project and interface with functional managers on resource issues and project sensor on project issues
Lead cross-functional teams of resources, drawing from other functional areas to ensure on-time delivery and a flawless delivery of the operation, including Transport, Security, Venue operations, Cultural Programme, Catering, and Guest Management.
Oversee the decommissioning of each Fan Fest location to ensure the site is handed back in a suitable manner
Manage the close out process with respective agencies and FA’s to ensure post event reporting is completed
Coach, mentor and motivate team members; lead teams effectively and provide input to functional managers on teams and team member performance.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor directly related or relevant to the job.
Support and work with the Fan Activations Senior Manager as and when required
Ensure the assigned responsibilities are delivered to a high standard of quality and timeliness in full compliance with the SC Quality Policy and the Safety and Security rules and requirements in line with any standards and objectives designated in the Employee Performance Management system
Qualifications, experience and skills
Education and certifications
· Bachelor degree in Technical Production, Event Management or relevant discipline from an accredited institution
· Postgraduate degree in Events, Project Management or relevant discipline from an accredited institution is an advantage
· Certification in relevant field is preferred
Experience and skills
· Minimum 10 years’ events and project management experience
· Relevant experience with a sports-oriented and/or prominent Qatari organisation is an advantage
· Excellent oral, written and communication skills in English is a must
· High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
· Proactive, resourceful – ability to “make things happen”
· Good balance of creative/communications instincts and logical, analytical skills
· Problem-solving abilities
· Flexibility and a related ability to work autonomously
· Excellent organisation, time-management and administrative skills
· Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Proficiency in internet research
· Good negotiation skills and sound judgement on cost management/budgeting
· A team player willing to work on tight timelines and pitch in when needed
· A positive attitude, patience and persistence, especially when dealing with various internal and external stakeholders
· Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
